TES Authors: How to Become a Successful TES Author

(51)
I began to produce TES resources in August 2015. When I look back at some of my early resources I cringe! I made so many mistakes…. Since then I have come a long way and learned so much. I have consistently been one of the top-selling authors on TES. One resource made over 900 sales in the space of a few weeks and earned nearly Ā£2000. In this 23-page, step-by-step guide I share my mistakes and my successes to help you avoid making the same errors and to become a successful author sooner than you would have done without this guide. I do not claim to have all the answers and my way might not be other people’s way. However, whether you are a potential author, an author starting out or already an author; I am sure that this guide can help you in some way and will prove a worthwhile investment. The guide includes advice on: Making resources Maximising the selling potential of resources Creating a cover page Sourcing images 51ŗŚĮĻing your resources Pricing your resources Product Descriptions Adding links to other resources and your shop in descriptions Creating your TES shop Branding Increasing the visibility of your resources Promoting your products through social media platforms Dealing with reviews General advice The resource contains links to useful sites and tools which will help you in making and promoting your products. Optical Illusions Assembly

Optical Illusions Assembly

(2)
This resource contains an engaging, fully editable, 35-slide PowerPoint presentation on the theme of optical illusions and the messages these illusions contain. This is an ideal New Year assembly or for use during anti-bullying week. The introduction begins with students making choices between items that are popular eg. football teams, Xbox or PlayStation, pizza or burger, Coronation Street or EastEnders etc. This opening serves to engage the pupils. It leads on to a slide on which they are asked to make a choice between a white van or a red sports car. However, there is no sports car - as it is an ā€˜optical illusion’ - the car is ā€˜painted’ on the van. This leads into the ā€˜optical illusions’. Further optical illusions are introduced. There is also a hyperlink to an entertaining ā€˜optical illusion dance’ by teachers. The main messages of the presentation are: What we see and what is actually happening is not always the same and sometimes we jump to wrong conclusions - as exemplified in images that appear to be moving but are not. We do not always see things from other people’s point of view - as exemplified in the young lady / old woman image We do not always see the good things in people or situations - as exemplified in the ā€˜good / evil’ image We sometimes put ourselves first instead of others - as exemplified in the me/you illusion image. This resource could be used for assemblies ( the situations could be further explored through role play and drama and included in the final assembly presentation), PSE lessons and tutor based activities - particularly useful if there have been some issues around the themes covered by the assembly. Please note that the watermark is only visible on the previews and not the resource itself. The resource can be found in the zip file when you download.
